 What is ITIL®?
So you want to
understand what
ITIL® is? Suppose
you had a
complicated task to
perform (like
delivering consistency
in levels of service),
and someone had
identified multiple high
performers doing the
exact thing that you
wanted to
accomplish. Would it be a good idea to look at how those high performers became high performers in the area in which you wished to excel. That is exactly what ITIL® is. Beginning in the 1980’s, the British government began to examine high performing organizations looking for suggestions for managing Information Technology. This resulted in the identification of a set of best practice called the Information Technology Infrastructure Library®. These best practice suggestions have been updated to encompass many current technologies and business scenarios. Today, the name has been shortened to just ITIL®.
