Normal/Regular Operation
An event has been identified which tells of a normal processing event. (ie: A user has successfully logged onto the network).
1) Ignore
2) Log only
3) Stop monitoring for this event
Unusual/Warning
A Warning event indicated that something unusual has happened, but that this “happening” does not constitute anything to be concerned about. It may however; indicate that something of concern may happen soon.
1) Log event
2) Alert an operator/console
Exception/Failure
An Exception event indicates that a failure has occurred within some system that is important to services. This may require human intervention; or at a minimum, some auto-response
1) Agent-based auto-response
2) Alert an operator/console
3) Open an Incident ticket (passing this
event onto the incident process for handling)
NOTE: When opening an incident ticket, event management will pass into the ticket all information that is known regarding the event. This will include classification information.
