government’s feed. Suddenly, the screens flicker, and instead of the usual propaganda, an image of
Abigaile standing in the plaza appears on every screen in New-nesia.
The people stop in their tracks, staring in confusion at the child on the screen. A child, something
they haven’t seen in years. Murmurs ripple through the crowd, disbelief spreading like wildfire.
Javi’s Voice: (broadcasted, resonant)
"This is Abigaile. She’s a child, just like the ones who should still be among us. But they’re not, because

the government has been killing them to make the serum that keeps you young ."
The crowd gasps, shocked, but skeptical. Some people begin to shout in disbelief.
Javi’s Voice:
"The serum you take to stay young is made from their blood. The government has been lying to you,
manipulating you. Look at her. Look at her face and tell me you don’t see the truth."
Javi steps forward in the plaza, now face-to-face with the citizens of New-nesia. He points to Abigaile
beside him, as she stands bravely in front of the crowd.
Javi: (in person, pleading)
"This is your future. The government took that from you. Are you going to let them keep taking it?"
The crowd begins to stir, some people shouting in anger, others still in denial. The tension is thick, and
Javi can feel the weight of their disbelief. He glances at Abigaile, her face lit up by the screens, and
knows that this is the moment that will decide everything.
Gelia: (softly, from behind Javi)
"It’s working. They’re listening."
6 Perlocutionary act refers to the effect that words have on listeners, such as changing their beliefs, feelings, or
actions. In this scene, Javi’s words aim to provoke a sense of betrayal and shock among the people of New-
nesia, leading them to question the government’s authority. This is the perlocutionary effect, as Javi's words
influence the crowd to feel anger and doubt toward the system.
