Executive leadership of for-profit company are usually quite clear. It can be privately held small-businesses
or large corporations with boards and stakeholders, leadership obligations are spread amongst select
groups of individuals. These individuals have a stake in the financial success of their organization, which
often can result in motivations of things such as bonuses and sharing of the profit. For-profit leaders are
concerned with profit and increasing the revenue for the organization primarily. Their non-profit counterpart
organizations are led and directed by a board of directors who will guide the future of that organization
without actually possessing direct financial ownership. Since they’re not much concerned with much of the
financial success, so the leadership will need to balance the financial concerns together with their social
and/or environmental issues. Their leadership meeting agendas include various topics - such as funding for
projects, social climate, any environmental concerns, the organization’s performance, fundraising, social
and political policies, and potential community concerns in need of help or funding ("7 Key Differences
Between Nonprofit and For-profit Organizations", 2016).
The culture within a for-profit organization tends to focus on the finances and business’s metrics, due to
their main goal of financial gain. Their employees are encouraged to be inventive with the creation of new
products and markets, which could help increase their short-term and long-term revenue. The culture within
a non-profit organization is often more community-oriented, employees often have to address and solve
problems that have little to no financial incentive. With this culture, it’s common to see employees working
for their organization outside their normal work schedule ("7 Key Differences Between Nonprofit and For-
profit Organizations", 2016).
Non-profits are registered as a 501(c)3 organization, meaning that they’re able to provide services such as
a public good without rendering a share of their income back to the government. Individuals and companies
that are donating to these organizations can to write off their contributions as tax-deductible. The for-profit
companies aren’t don’t benefit from tax exemptions and have to pay their taxes as the law requires them to
("7 Key Differences Between Nonprofit and For-profit Organizations", 2016).
A for-profit company consists mostly of paid employees and interns, whereas a non-profit usually have to
rely heavily on a volunteer staff ("7 Key Differences Between Nonprofit and For-profit Organizations",
2016).
Play Sport4Life is a non-profit organization based within Cape Town, South
Africa. Their mission being to help improve the lives and well-being of the
local disadvantaged communities. They provide athletic opportunities, using
sports to promote healthier lifestyles. They work to equip the communities
with the necessary life skills that can help them deal with their day-to-day
challenges, to leading to a more positive impact on the lives and communities
involved that are involved ("PS4L", 2021).

The Camissa Sports, Culture & Social Development Program was initiated to promote sport as a healthy
lifestyle in underprivileged communities through community and school participation at grassroots level.
They provide assistance with the administration to clubs and sporting associations to help promoting
efficiency and professionalism. Their program includes development and growth of sports in general with
the main focus on soccer, athletics, netball, fencing, gymnastics, swimming, archery, table tennis etc. They
