Hi, Kids! Have fun coloring, reading, and exploring with Max and his friends. One Mission
¡Quibo! (How’s it going?) My name is Alicia.
Welcome to Colombia! Kids
My mother, sister, and I live in one room in Presents
my aunt's house in Bogotá, Colombia. My
Papá died in a traffic accident when my
little sister was a baby.
Mamá has no education, so finding a job is
difficult for her. Each day she works in
different homes washing clothes by
scrubbing them on a cement slab,
ironing, cleaning, and doing other tasks.
Mamá wants me in the Christian school,
so she is trying to pay for my tuition
while making enough for us to eat.
Many days we have only one meal and
a little snack at bedtime.
I am thankful to attend the Christian
School in the barrio (neighborhood) of
Libertadores in Bogotá, Colombia. I am in
2nd grade and love my school. Some people
from a church gave us notebooks, pencils, and crayons. I was so “Declare his glory among the
happy to receive them!
nations, his marvelous works
MAX’s TRAX among all the peoples!”
Colombia is a land of flowers, butterflies, and the Lost City of Gold. It is a —Psalm 96:3 ESV
South American country that is almost twice the size of Texas. Colombia
sits right on the equator and has mountains, ocean coastlines, and
rainforests. Although Colombia was once known for violence and guerilla
warfare, the Colombian people are “friendly and as warm as their coffee.”
One Mission Society began working in Colombia in 1942.
Here are a few of our favorite things about Colombia. Medellín
Bogotá
• El Dorado, El Peñón de Guatapé (mountain
staircase), and El Museo del Oro (gold museum)— COLOMBIA
• Arepas, bananas, empanadas, churros, and cheesy
hot chocolate —
• Humpback whales, capybara, poison dart frog,
jaguar, and the spectacled bear —
• Orchids, emeralds, playing soccer and tejo —
• Cartagena, Medellín, and Bogotá — Destination:
• Metrocable (cable cars), Caño Cristales (River of
Five Colors), and the Festival of Flowers—
God loves Colombia and so does One Mission Kids!
