                                         Mabuhay! I’m Alea.
                                    Welcome to Philippines! Kids

I am 12 years old and live in San Fernando City on the island Presents
of Luzon, the largest of the Philippines’ islands.

I go to a Christian school. After school, my mother
makes me a merienda, an afternoon snack. One of
my favorite treats is halo-halo: shaved ice mixed with
evaporated milk, sweetened fruit, sweet beans, sugar,
and crunchy rice flakes served in a tall glass.

My summer vacation is from April to June when the
weather is hot and dry. Our rainy season begins in June.
We can get up to 160 inches of rainfall a year.
Sometimes, we miss school because of heavy winds
                          and rain caused by typhoons.

My mother has taken me to church at Faith Fellowship
La Union Church since I was 2 years old. I love Sunday
school. My teacher Áte (older sister) Cherlene trained
me to teach kids about Jesus. I am her helper until I can
teach children on my own. I enjoy serving the Lord by seeing other
boys and girls learn about God’s love. “Declare his glory among the

Philippines is an archipelago (group of islands) in the western Pacific Ocean.
People only live on 2,000 of the 7,641 islands. Many of the smaller islands do —Psalm 96:3 ESV
not even have names. All of the islands’ land together is about the size of the
state of Arizona. Philippines is part of the “Ring of Fire,” an area that borders
the Pacific Ocean, where 90% of the world’s earthquakes and volcanoes are
located. Of the 200 volcanoes in Philippines, only 21 are active. Being close to
the equator makes Philippines a great place to grow coconuts and other fruits.
In fact, it is the world’s third largest coconut producer.  Manila

                                                                                           Destination:
                         • Manila, Vigan, Davao City, and Puerto Princesa—

                         • Videoke, beetle racing, jeepneys, and scuba diving.
