             TOGETHER IN SPORTS, ONE IN CULTURE





             Member states of the region 5 on December
             8, 2022 left the field of play and took time to share and
             appreciate  cultures  of  their  respective  countries  in  an
             event dubbed the “Night of Culture’’ at Bingu Interna-
             tional Convention Center (BICC).

             The event was organized with aim of letting young
             people from di erent member states to meet, mix and
             get to know each other, thereby developing the required
             community spirit and regional integration.

             Making his remarks Minister of Youth and Sports Richard
             Chimwendo Banda explained that the event plays a great
             role in teaching the youth about where they come from
             and the roots that they have as Africans.
             “I am so much excited with this event tonight. You see
             that we come from di erent countries, but this culture
             night has shown that we are one and that we have simi-
             larities in food, dances, and songs,” said Chimwendo
             Banda.
             Athletes from Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique,
             Angola, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Namibia and
             South Africa showcased their traditional dances during
             the night.
