Impact Stories
“MILA has changed the way I think about my future. Now, I focus on
what I enjoy, and I want to go to college and get a good job. It has also
strengthened my belief in myself, helping me stay determined even
when things are difficult. Doing daily affirmations has changed the way
I see and think about myself because now I know that I am made in the
image and likeness of God.”
- SHANNON DEPEIZA (7th Grade Scholar)
“MILA has really changed me in so many ways. It has helped me become
a better person. Being part of MILA has taught me to have self-respect
and to show respect to my peers. This year, I’m getting better grades
and improving in school. Also, when I’m struggling or having a hard
time, there is always someone there for me. They understand, correct,
and encourage me. I’m never treated differently from others; I’m always
treated the same. I’m really glad to be here.”
- JOSEPH BROWN (7th Grade Scholar)
“Mirror Image Leadership Academy (MILA) has changed the way I act,
move, and think. Being part of MILA has helped me become a real leader
and a man of integrity. It has taught me how to live and embrace life.
MILA has taken me on exposure trips where we learn about different
careers. Every day, we say our pillars and affirmations, reminding us that
God is always with us.”
- JULIUS BRYANT (7th Grade Scholar)
“I knew Mirror Image had a profound impact on my son, Kason, when
he attended the summer program. He eagerly shared his affirmations
with me, recounted the exciting experiences he had, and, most notably,
became very emotional on the last day, something I had never seen
him do before. Despite attending other programs in the past, this was
the first time he had such a deep emotional response, which showed
me that the leaders and facilitators were able to connect with him in
a meaningful way. I am incredibly grateful for this leadership academy
and, most importantly, the biblical foundation.”
- LASHEAKA MCCLELLAN (7th Grade Scholar's Parent)
“MILA has played a huge role in partnering with my family to help my
son succeed. There were times when I felt neglected by the [school]
administration while my son was working so hard. We could have never
made it without MILA. The way they care and the example they have set
allowed my son to not only endure but excel. I am truly in debt to you for
all MILA’s assistance.”
- LARISSA ONEAL (7th Grade Scholar's Parent)
