Educational & Future Expectations
This measure includes a series of standardized questions regarding a youth’s plan to
graduate from high school, pursue college, and their plans immediately after graduation.
Educational expectations have been linked to academic performance and future
educational attainment. Youth who have completed at least one post-survey showed a
positive outlook on their future education and life goals:
» 93% of AMIkids youth believe they will graduate from high school or earn their GED
» 73% of AMIkids youth plan on going to college at some point
» 87% of youth established education or career plans for their first year after high school
» Of those youth with plans for their first year after graduating from high school
or earning their GED:
o 72% plan to get a job and work
o 47% plan to go to college
o 35% plan to go to a technical school or community college for a special trade
o 23% plan to participate in an apprenticeship or internship
o 19% plan to join the military
Through improved skills and attitudes related to educational and career goals,
youth achieved a number of positive outcomes while enrolled in AMIkids programs
in 2024:
» 37% increased one or more grade levels
» 45 youth earned their high school or GED
» 1,360 middle school credits were earned
» 2,449 high school credits were earned, of which 545 credits were retrieved
» 208.5 college credits were earned
