STAR Assessments
All of our youth take Renaissance STAR assessments within 10 days of
enrollment. They are retested monthly throughout their participation and
again upon termination from the program. STAR assessments are computer-
adaptive tests (CATs) that are used to screen students for their reading and
math literacy levels. This helps us place students into appropriate courses
and allows us to monitor their growth and progress throughout the program.
» About half (49.6%) of youth tested in 2024 had gains in STAR math and/or
reading scores.
