Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Norm Druce came to Detroit at age four with
his family. After graduating from Cooley High School in 1938, Norm served with the U.S.
Navy during World War 11 as an aviation sheet metal repair instructor at a naval base in
Norman, Oklahoma. He was discharged as an Aviation Metalsmith Third Class in 1945.

Norm moved to Plymouth in 1951 and in that year he and wife Marie were married in
Cherry Hill Methodist Church. He started up the Aero Hinge Company, an aircraft products
firm, which has grown into what is now known as Industrial Repair Service (IRS) on Arthur

Norm has a summer home about 630 miles away near Gogama, Ontario, which he
enjoys retreating to whenever son Gary takes over the business. He also enjoys flying and is
in the process of restoring an old Stinson airplane.
