PLYMOUTH COMMUNITY SERVICE AUXILIARIES

The Plymouth Community Service Auxiliary was started in May 1982. This was to be an all volunteer organization
of limited number. Their purpose is to assist the regular police personnel during routine police department opera-
tions, special events, emergencies, and civil defense disasters.

After a thorough screening process, five members of the Plymouth Community were selected to be a part of the
Auxiliary. The Auxiliary was trained in First Aid, CPR, Ordinance Enforcement, Radio Procedures, Traffic and
Crowd Control, and they continue to receive continuous training. Upon completion of the initial training, the
Plymouth Community Service Auxiliary was sworn to enforce city and township ordinances and to perform those
duties as outlined in appropriate rules and regulations.

During the first six months of operation, the auxiliary contributed 520 hours of volunteer time to the community.
This included foot patrols in the city and township, crowd and traffic control at 37 special events and checking
homes of vacationing residents in the Plymouth community.

The Plymouth Community Service Auxiliary has been successful in their operation. We the members of the
Plymouth Police Officers Association, are proud to have volunteer groups such as the auxiliary helping the
       Plymouth Police Department.
