Staff Training
Preparing to Work with Youth at Risk
A training workshop on working with young people was run for mentors and staff prior to the program
commencing.
An essential component of this training was the procedure and protocols around mandatory reporting, and
information on the steps to take if a young person discloses abuse or other harm.
Training included the following sessions ...
• Working with Youth at Risk - Learnings with a a panel of experienced youth workers
• Working with Young People in Custody Workshop with Victoria Carrington - Department of Justice and
• Regulation
• Mandatory reporting with Ralph Barba
• Success stories as told by young people who have been part of similar programs in the past
• Program evaluation with Ramon Spaaij and Gabriela Garton from Victoria University.
