   THE CHALLENGE

    GOAL OF PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS
The aim of each school participating in the YLOTWSPC is to have their students produce and
promote a podcast that will educate their community about gambling harm.

Each school’s podcast will be recorded live and launched on global radio station LIVE FM
(www.livefm.online) during a special broadcast event scheduled for April 2022.

The students with the most professionally produced, and most listened to (live and
on-demand) podcast will win a professional podcasting kit for their school.

    RESPONSIBILITY OF SCHOOLS
As part of their participation, schools are asked to nominate 10 VCE students i.e. Year 11 and/or
Year 12, and have them take part in a one-day podcast training and gambling awareness
    worshop at their school.

    PODCAST TRAINING & RECORDING WORKSHOP
Participating students will undergo a one-day podcast training and gambling awareness
workshop, by the end of which their podcast will be recorded.

All guests interviewed by students during the workshop, will be organised by the YOUNG
LEADERS OF THE WEST and IPC Health, and all production and editing of podcasts will be
the responsibility of MAKING MEDIA AUSTRALIA, the team behind LIVE FM.

    WORKSHOP DETAILS
IPC Health will work with schools to confirm times and dates for the training and
    recording workshops.

The morning session of the workshop will involve students taking part in podcast training that
focuses on hosting and interviewing, as well as gambling harm education.

The afternoon session will have students recording their podcast.

    Podcast content will include...

    • Student discussion about the magnitude of the gambling harm problem in the community
    • An interview with a person who has had lived experience of gambling harm
    • An interview with a gambling harm expert
    • Student discussion on a way forward for those in their community who have been impacted
       by gambling harm.

Students will also be asked to record radio voiceovers that will be used as part their podcast
    production.
