SOUL DIVE SHOW
LIVE FM has impacted my life in a major way. As a
P AR TICIPANT hosting and content creating. LIVE FM gave me the
journalism graduate, I did not possess the practical aspects of
opportunity to learn valuable skills that has now created a
confident radio host with the ability to speak on social justice
issues to the community.
TES TIMONIAL S The skills learned through Brimbank Live has been invaluable to all
aspects of my life, in particular in the work space. I have learned to
process information in creative, forward thinking ways as well as the ability
to speak to people from all walks of life. This has been an asset in
making me a better employee. I am able to approach all situations and
people with curiosity and confidence.
LIVE FM has completely opened my eyes to many opportunities. What
first began as a small project has opened up many doors towards the
future. As a young, budding, journalist, I believe that the possibilities are
endless. I now have the opportunity to potentially allow other young
people a platform to express themselves and, the opportunity to continue
to nurture my talents and, to continue to create a platform that honours
what matters to me (social justice).

SOUL DIVE SHOW
LIVE FM has impacted me in a number of ways. When I think about the
specific impact that it has had, I think of community and career. I’ve had
the opportunity to practice a craft (i.e. radio) that is otherwise hard to prac-
tice in more casual spaces. My participation in LIVE FM has also
connected me with a community of like-minded people who are enthused
by similar things. It has been extremely positive to be able to develop
myself in this field alongside people who share a similar vision to me.
I’ve been able to develop my skillset across several media disciplines
(i.e., presenting, producing, editing, marketing etc). As a result, I feel much
more confident to apply for a number of jobs that I wouldn’t have
otherwise applied for before LIVE FM. An example of how I am better
equipped now than before is that I have a number of audio and video files
from the work I’ve done for LIVE FM that I could draw on for the
application process of a job one day. This is great because it adds to my
resume in the case that I need to demonstrate some of my work. My par-
ticipation in LIVE FM has exposed me to some things I wasn’t necessarily
aware of before. For example, it has opened my eyes to the freelancer,
contractual and entrepreneurial world. Also, the opportunity to connect,
converse and work with people who are much more familiar with this
space than me has provided me with many learning opportunities.
I think the program has great potential. Melbourne’s increased
awareness of LIVE FM has seen a number of expressions of interest
from people from all walks of life. People in the community feel
encouraged by the fact that a local radio station is emerging with
voices they are aware of. I believe that the people on LIVE FM have
their heart’s in the right place and that with a bit more planning,
intention and action, we can achieve what we’re trying to achieve.
