MAKING MEDIA AUSTRALIA and LIVE FM media workshops are designed to build media
skills that are transferable across work, social, and community life.
The goals and outcomes of our workshops are…
Workshop goals
1. INCREASED SENSE OF CONNECTION TO COMMUNITY, FAMILY AND PEERS
i.e. using a modern media platform to address community, cultural, and societal
issues, and tell personal stories, and the stories of others.
2. INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES FOR OTHER PATHWAYS INCLUDING EDUCATION AND
EMPLOYMENT
i.e. using a modern media platform to make connections, network, explore and
investigate opportunities to build-capacity and professional relationships.
3. ABILITY TO DEMONSTRATE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES AND CONTRIBUTE TO
YOUTH-LED INITIATIVES
i.e. using a modern media platform to make a statement on behalf of the community,
and have a voice on issues that affect their family, cultural group, peers, and
generation as a whole.
4. ABILITY TO WORK EFFECTIVELY AS A TEAM
i.e. using a modern media platform to work and function as media crews, presenters,
producers, marketers and more, to produce compelling media content for a targeted
audience.
Projected workshop outcomes
1. Improved media and IT literacy, and oral language through structured program
delivery and assessment.
2. Provide training, practice and real-world opportunities to display leadership, critical
thinking and civic engagement.
3. Provide the opportunity to learn how to appropriately promote and market
self-produced media content using social media and other traditional PR platforms.
