      The Purpose

On the issue of the importance of representation to the develoment of young
children’s aspirations, American activist for children’s rights, Marian Wright Edelman, once
said, ‘You can’t be what you can’t see’.

Women’s full and equal participation in all facets of society is a fundamental human right. Yet,
around the world, from politics to entertainment to the workplace, women and girls are
      largely underrepresented.

mac.rob LIVE - Be Like Her LIVE aims to have students explore their own reality, and form their
own narrative about the positive and powerful impact women have had on their community, and
      the world.

Through student produced and enquiry-focus radio programs, mac.rob LIVE - Be Like Her LIVE
will provide targeted audiences, with live and on-demand content that will demonstrate, in a
compelling way, that women can aspire to achieve at the highest levels in any field they an
      aptitude and passion for.

      Be Like Her LIVE also aims to present young males with success stories about women;
stories that will have them uniquely look to adopt the traits and behaviors of successful women,
and in the process, build respect for women, and have them as role models in their lives.

Be Like Her LIVE will produce compelling, live and on-demand, student content that will…
      • Tell the story of successful women across industries and communities in Australia
      • Provide female role models with an opportunity to share their experiences and celebrate the
impact of their work in Australian communities
      • Have students investigate, educate, report on and broadcast key messages about gender
equality, and respect for women that are important in their local and broader community
      • Forge real world connections by having students professionally interview successful people,
alumnae, and other high profile leaders
      • Have students appreciate the power of 21st century media, and the responsibility that comes
          with working in the media.
