THE CONCEPT

Geelong Grammar, in partnership with MAKING MEDIA AUSTRALIA, will
provide its students with the ultimate real-world media experience by having
them produce, present, and promote live radio shows on Australia’s newest community
radio station - GEELONG LIVE, during Geelong Live Week 2022.

Geelong is known for its rich history, diverse cultural demographic, creative arts and mu-
sic scene, innovative business sector, renowned sporting pedgiree, and vibrant community
life. Geelong Live Week 2022, presents the students of Geelong Grammar School with a rare
opportunity to tell the untold story of the community where they live and learn.

Working as professional media teams, they will reveal what 21st century Geelong looks like,
and what it means to its people.

Through compelling interviews, community and student forums, discussion and debate,
and enquiry and investigation about the city’s culture, health and wellbeing, history,
commerce, sport, and its community champions, they will showcase the heart of Geelong,
to their neighbourhood and the world, like never before.

As part of their work, students will be commercial radio trained, and supported in managing
every aspect of the station including branding, production, producing, on-air announcing,
and marketing and promotion.

Geelong Live Week 2022 on GEELONG LIVE, will uniquely and powerfully provide Geelong
Grammar School’s next generation with a creative, enquiring, persuasive, entertaining,
informative and compelling voice, that will have them proudly resonating and connecting
with their community.

Through a mix of in-school, and outside broadcasts from iconic locations across the
Geelong region, GEELONG LIVE will air radio shows 24 hours-a-day during Geelong Live
Week 2022, and aim to attract a massive 10,000 radio and podcast listeners, and do it by
creating great radio content.
