There was a lovely display of the work of Ir.ish artists who are inter- nationally famous in the W est End to-day. It was not an exhibition of their pictures although some of their decorated the walls. They were represented in Mr. John McGuire's conception of industry under the in- fluence of art when he opened hi.s exhibition at the Hille Showrooms to-
day in Albermarle Street with a collection of screen-printed fUrnish- ing fabrics-all heavy Irish linens. When Mr. McGuire, son of Senator Edward McGuire. set up the firm of John McGuire Ltd., he decided that his screen-printed furnishing fabrics should represent an Ireland that was not only growing in industry but that
had already arrived in modern art. For this venture he called upon four internationally known artists- two of them both in Le Borcquy, 'Dhurloe Conolly, Nevill J ohnson and Patrick Scott-to create the designs. They need no introduction to IrJsh readers, nor do they in EurOJile or America, .where their work as painters
of the modern school is known and appreciated. This is Mr. McGuire's first showing of his fabrics in London and it is the most unique and artistic- ally satisfying that the British capital
[ has yet seen. He tells me that having already had exhibitions in the United States he is now making arrangements for an exhibition in Wellington and
