When bedrock is shallower than known
1. Requires change in foundation system owing to unsuitability of an
originally specified system.
2. Increase in rock excavation volume for site development –
significant construction cost increase.
3. Loss of earth volume if need to fill up lower ground – have to
import fill at increased costs.
4. Incurs time and cost over-runs.
5. The only possible benefit – open up a crushed rock supply business!
