From the Vice Presidents…

                        Tina Thomas, 1 Vice President
Hello Colleagues! Happy new year and welcome to Spring 2022! It has been almost exactly two years
since most of us have seen each other in person. As many businesses continue to navigate through
these times and many have learned how to operate differently through this pandemic, I hope you are
all prospering through your new “normal.” Whatever normal looks like for each of us, one thing is for
certain, Zoom and remote meetings are part of our new normal. While the NCISS Board has decided
over the last couple of years to operate remotely, it has been nice to meet new people on Zoom who
were unable to attend Hit the Hill or other Board Meetings.

This has been a unique opportunity for us to offer more Educational Training including our Coffee and Conversations
webinars in which we have tackled ethical issues and heard from many industry legends how they view each issue and
how they professionally handle them. I think this is particularly beneficial to our Members, as many companies are one
person or two person shops, and they may not have the resources to tap into for questions and concerns. This goes
right along with my personal mission to continue to educate and train newer investigators, so they have the tools and
knowledge to be successful in this field. When we educate each other and share our experiences, we all prosper. It is
imperative that we remain professional in our trade and this knowledge sharing just deepens our image in society. We
have many more online events planned that are free to Members and I encourage everyone to attend at least one this
year! I am proud of what we have accomplished with education.

I welcome any feedback or ideas you have for the Board and our association, because we are here to serve the Members
first and foremost. Thank you for allowing me to continue to serve as your 1st Vice President, and I will continue to look
towards the future and growing NCISS with each of you. My thoughts are with all of our esteemed Members and
Colleagues until we can meet again. It is an honor to continue to serve you and our profession.

                                        nd
                        – Paul Cicarella, 2 Vice President
                                                                                                          nd
Hello NCISS! As a NCISS member since August 2018, I am proud to now be serving as your 2 Vice
President. Most recently, I was elected as Senator in Connecticut’s 34th district, giving me a clear
understanding on how important NCISS is to our profession. Over the past year I have had the pleasure
of attending several virtual meetings as well as working with the Sponsorship Committee. As a result,
we were able to secure new sponsorships with many great companies. I am excited to see the future
of NCISS as we build new partnerships with industry leaders.

I have also attended numerous zoom meetings, including our most recent meeting with the state association for a
legislative update, which was very productive. In conjunction with other state associations, NCISS has been successful in
combating legislation that could produce unwanted consequences for our profession. My service to the board continues
to be a great sense of pride both professionally and personally.

                                                                                                            nd
As always, I would like to express many thanks to the past and present leaders of the Executive Committee. As 2 Vice
President, I look forward to what we will accomplish together. Through our knowledge and strength as a team, I
am confident that despite any challenges, we can accomplish our goals.
