From the Vice President, Board Chair, and Executive Director…
Ed Ajaeb, Vice President
As your Vice President, I am pleased to share some updates and insights into our association's
ongoing efforts and offerings, as well as a glimpse into the exciting prospects we have in store for
the remainder of the year.
First and foremost, our commitment to keeping you informed and prepared for legislative changes
remains unwavering. With the U.S. Department of Labor's new rule on independent contractor
classification now in effect, we understand the significance of this development for private
investigators and security professionals. In March, we hosted an informative webinar to delve into
the details of this new regulation—what it entails and its implications for our profession. It was an engaging session
aimed at demystifying the complexities and equipping you with the knowledge to navigate this change effectively.
Our association is more than just a network; it's a platform for continuous professional growth and development. In line
with this, we have been organizing various events that cover legislative developments, training opportunities, and other
avenues for professional advancement. These sessions are designed not only to keep you updated but also to foster a
community of well-informed, skilled, and versatile professionals.
Looking ahead to May, we are excited to invite you to our annual "Hit the Hill" event in Washington D.C. This unique
opportunity allows us to meet face-to-face with legislators, advocating for our profession and making our voices heard.
It's a powerful way to contribute to the shaping of policies that affect us all. I strongly encourage every member to
participate—your presence can truly make a difference.
As we move forward, we remain united in our goal to advocate for the prosperity and longevity of our profession.
Together, we are not just navigating challenges; we are setting the stage for a future where our profession not only
survives but thrives.
Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment to our association and our profession.
Lisa Turley, Board Chair
Spring is here and the anticipation of NCISS Hit-the-Hill is a highly anticipated event. We are incredibly
grateful to have many sponsors who have stepped up which has made the event affordable to anyone
to attend. The schedule is full but includes many networking opportunities outside of the main event
which is legislative advocacy. The courtesy room block at Capitol Hill Hotel is filling up quickly and ends
on April 5, 2024. If you haven’t already registered, please reconsider! We have many pressing legislative
concerns. Our goal is to have a professional from every state meeting with their respective legislators
on May 7, 2024, as a common voice, and educating them about our profession. See you in May.
Honored to serve, Lisa Turley
NCISS Board Chair and NCISS Conference Committee Chair
