Hello Robert with the Robert Rodrigo Band and welcome to
Rocknation. Congrats to your new ‘Living For Louder’ release, how
excited are you to see it available this year.
Thank you! We are really thrilled, we believe it’s a great album in which we
have worked very hard this last year, and the result has been incredible.
We’re really proud of it and we can’t wait to share it with you all.
Please pick your favorite 3 tracks from ‘Living For Louder’ and tell
us a little about what they are about.
It is very difficult to pick just three. One of the main characteristics of the album is that without losing OUR personal touch, every song is
different from the rest, each one tells a different story. But I’m going to try to pick those songs. The first one would be “Break It Out” I love
its roughness, it’s a powerful song, very bluesy, it inspired the cover of the album. It talks about the feeling you get when you are competing
with your team, that kind of adrenaline rush…very sporting! Ha-ha. “Southern Skies” is another song that I love; it shows different parts of
us which can’t be seen in the rest of the songs, very funky and playful, a single full of details. And the last one would be the
instrumental “The Land Of The Seven Colours” a full of emotion slow song. What I like the most about this song is that each of us tells a
different story in it, and all those stories convey at the end forming a unique new story.
What was it like the first time you heard Johnny Gioeli (Hardline, Axel Rudi Pell) singing one of your tracks?
It was a blast! Johnny is my favorite singer and the feeling I get from listening to him in our tracks can’t be explained with words, only with
my guitar! He He. Besides, he has also taken part in the composition of the lyrics and some melodies, which makes this work even more
authentic.
How was the experience working with Johnny Gioeli?
It was very easy to fit together, everything came out very naturally and we all werevery focused on doing things the best we could. Plus,
Johnny is a great guy, very funny and hardworking!
If you had to tell someone what your music sounded like, what bands would you mention?
I don’t think I could mention any…this album comes from a very deep part in ourselves. Obviously some parts of some songs could sound
familiar but I think that in the whole this album is fresh and original, but you will have to listen to it and GET TO your own conclusions!
Your band Airless has released many CDs over the years how would you compare your solo music to that band?
Airless was a band with a very specific style “Melodic hard Rock” But “Living For Louder” is much more eclectic and rockier. We have
created it thinking about what we wanted to say instead of worrying too much about the style itself.
You are from Spain what is the music scene like there?
Rock in Spain is not a very popular style. Although obviously, it has its followers. It’s true
though that the recent Rock festivals happening here have been very successful.
Are there many festivals/clubs you can play at?
Yes there are and we will for sure!!!
What plans do you have for 2018-19?
We will keep working hard with anything related to our album, “Living For Louder” Giving
concerts and playing on stop, and last but not least, continue getting better!
Thank you for taking time for this interview. Any last words to the fans?
Thanks to you, and to our followers for the support, you are the best, see you on stage!!
