Hello Evolution Eden congrat’s on your new CD called
“Sonic Cinema” your 6th release. Most bands break up
after 2 or 3 Cds, what is your secret to this 20 year
illustrious career?
We have had one lineup change over that 20 years adding
Mike McShane on bass on Brian Powell on drums during the
writing of our last record Audio Therapy but Brandon and I have
been partners for the whole duration of EE. Quite simply put,
we get along well as people, so we don’t have many creative
battles when making music or with the guiding the direction of
the band. We’re lucky to have that type of relationship.
How would you compare your latest release “Sonic Cinema” to your previous releases?
Sonic Cinema is full of what our fans would expect from us. Lots of guitars and hook laden melodies and stories but
with our current rhythm section it has created a heavier sound for us. All the tracks still have a strong “sing-a-long”
affect meaning if you hear it once you’ll be humming the riffs and melodies all day.
Where did you record these tracks at, and did you use a producer?
We recorded the record at Brandon’s studio out in California and we decided to self-produce it. We’ve been at this
long enough to know what we want the record to sound like.
If you had to tell someone what your “Sonic Cinema” music sounded like, what bands would you mention?
That’s always a tough question because we have many influences that have shaped our sound. Depending on who
you ask it would vary but I think Def Leppard, Thunder and Bryan Adams would be good examples. While our sound
is different, we do craft our songs in a similar fashion.
You have quite an impressive list of artist you have performed with. Which ones stand out as some of your
best shows?
We’ve played so many shows with top notch bands and
artists over the years and when its live anything can
happen. One show that stands out is when we opened
for Winger. They are a very highly skilled group of
musicians, and we always are challenged by the
audience to put on a good show. The other show that
comes to mind is when we opened for John Waite and at
the last-minute management required us to play
acoustically instead of our usual electric set up. We had
to quickly pivot but it turned out great and the audience
was very appreciative of our performance.
Thank you for taking time for this interview and last
words to the fans?
We just want to say thanks to those of you that have
continued to follow us over the last 20 years, and we
hope that you enjoy Sonic Cinema. You can check out
the new video for our first single “Blood Runs Wild” and
