Hello MorningStar and welcome to Rocknation. Let’s talk a
little about the history of your band.
MorningStar formed in 2014 with the intention of being the vehicle
to get Timothy McCoy’s original songs heard by live audiences.
As our ambition pushed us to do more than 45-minute showcases,
we developed a 4 hour+ repertoire of classic rock songs from the
‘70’s. This has been a winning combination for MorningStar.

How did you pick your band name and what does it
     mean to you?
The band name MorningStar is the actual middle name of our lead
singer, Tasmin Morningstar McCoy. Being to some degree modest
it was not Tasmin’s idea that band take her middle name. It was
suggested by the original bass player, Tony Velasco, and the rest of the band overrode Tasmin’s objections.

Your bands music has been featured in some big magazines in Europe, please tell us about that.
We have been very fortunate to have been well received in European publications. Fireworks magazine did a large write up of
MorningStar and included the track Sparks Fly off our debut self-titled album “MorningStar” on the issue # 82 of 2018 compila-
tion CD! We also had the pleasure of being featured during Midem Festival in Cannes, France. We have great hopes for our
     prospects in Europe.

The bands music has received airplay all over the world, how has that helped the exposure of the band?
International airplay such as UK radio station AR FM has been critical to getting our songs out in every possible location.
Certainly, internet radio has played a huge part in this and even some of the traditional radio stations in our region of the
country have played MorningStar on regular rotation with emphasis on promoting upcoming appearances! We Love Radio!
They have treated MorningStar like rock stars!

If you had to tell someone what your music sounded like, what bands would you mention?
This question always stumps me as MorningStar has a varied and truly original sound. It is blues-based rock with a tinge of
country (ala Pete Anderson style). Having a female front person also adds a fresh perspective, although not entirely unheard of,
to this genre. We have been told that Tasmin’s vocal style is reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams! MorningStar also
ventures into an ethereal jazz element on some of the tracks, Oceans Too Blue comes to mind, and really considers no musical
     style off limits.

Are you playing any shows this summer?
Yes, we are! We have a full schedule of shows this summer and MorningStar is
pretty much booked out for the year of 2019. You can find where we will be and
when we will be there @ Morningstar

Thank you for taking time for this interview. Any last words to the fans?
Well the band MorningStar would like to thank you, Rock Nation! We are truly
honored and grateful to be featured in your publication! We would like to tell all of
the fans of MorningStar out there that you are as much a member of
MorningStar as any of the musicians, road crew, producers or managers.
MorningStar is your band! When we get up there and pour out our souls in songs
of meaning and emotion, we do that night after night for you, the fans. We have a
vision of building lifelong relationships through our music with the people who
understand that these songs are speaking to you directly. They were written for
you. And we love each and every one of you!
