An Escape from the Big City
Jordan McNeil has been living in Middlesex County for
the past year and a half. He works at Strathroy-Middlesex
General Hospital as a registered nurse. He wanted to have
a slower paced life, rather than the rush of a big city, so he
chose to move from Toronto to Middlesex County with his
family. His girlfriend easily found a job here, and her
parents have moved here as well because there are so many
job opportunities in farming, general labor, and the
manufacturing industry, which are all in need of additional
workers. He likes living in Middlesex County as there is less
traffic than in big cities, and the cost of living for housing,
groceries, and gas is much lower.
Jordan notes it is convenient to live in Middlesex
because everything he needs is close by, including banks,
grocery stores, and coffee shops. Having these amenities
close by makes it possible to have more time to spend with
family and friends.
The community is very friendly with plenty of
welcoming neighbors who treat each other with a high
level of respect. Jordan participates in community sports, as
well as staying active at a local fitness center. Jordan really likes the farmers’ markets in Middlesex as
they are somewhere special to find local food. Jordan admits the best part about living here is the
quiet, beautiful aspects of nature, while still being close to bigger cities. He enjoys using the many
nearby trails in Middlesex County, as they are good for
hiking and cycling.
Jordan has observed that it’s easy to find a job in
Middlesex County, and he was able to find his job at the
hospital before moving here. He notes that many of the
top hospitals in the country are very busy and have high
wait times to see the doctors. At the local Strathroy
hospital, the waiting time is much shorter for the same
excellent quality of care.
Jordan knows Middlesex will be a great place to
raise kids as it is a small, safe community with
welcoming neighbors and good schools. It is a quiet community, with a good quality of life, which is
