A Friendly County for a Young Family
When Katelyn Pittman and her husband wanted to
move to a new place, they choose Middlesex County. There
were two reasons to relocate: family and affordability. Her
husband’s family owns a farm just outside of the county, and
they can now reach the family farm within an hour. In the
six months they have been living in Middlesex County, they
have found the county also very affordable to live in. Katelyn
and her husband are about to buy a new house that is twice
as big as the one they could afford in the Greater Toronto
Area.
Katelyn feels that Middlesex County is an excellent
choice for young couples and families. She likes the new
small community a lot because people who live in
Middlesex are very welcoming and friendly. She feels she is
not a number in a crowd, but a part of the community.
Katelyn really enjoys how they are able to make connections
as a family and how her kids are part of their new
community. They became friends with their neighbors quickly, and she knows many other children’s
parents through sending her kids to daycare. Even though it is a small place, there are
plenty of activities to engage in. Her husband for example volunteered to be her son’s soccer coach.
There are many job opportunities in Middlesex.
Katelyn works for Community Employment Choices.
She and her colleagues support the development of the
labour market and with that the economy in Middlesex
County. The county has great resources to help
individuals find meaningful employment. Katelyn loves
her work because it allows her to engage with people in
the community, meeting new clients every single day
and because the location of her work is very convenient,
saving plenty of time on transportation.
