Birmingham called ‘Boots’. I ventured

It was a great venue, upstairs
was a cruising area, cinema,
downstairs bar and dance floor,
in the cellar was a bath, barrels,
and sling area. Around 2004,
it moved to a larger club and
became ‘Rebellion’ then
around 2007 moved again
and became ‘Boltz’.
before the club, pubs would be packed
at 9.30pm back in the beginning...
now they are not. Fetish
pub and club would be full
of guys in the gear, leather,
rubber, skin... now they
are not. I noticed the decline
start when the smoking ban was
introduced, guys stopped going out to the
pubs, and just went straight to the club for
midnight. It is about 8 years ago when a lot
of the regular leather crowd I knew started
to vanish, and I began to admire skin gear
more. Skinheads are also really friendly
guys! Skintight bleachers are just as hot as
tight leather gear!! Ive made as many skin
mates in the last 3 years, as all the leather
mates I made in the last 12 years!
About 3 years ago, I could see more and
more people at our fetish club in ‘normal’
clothes instead of fetish wear, which pissed
me off as in a fetish club you wanna see
sexy gear-but the manager told me they
have to let em in to make money, and its
not profitable to have dress code only
nights. I don’t really know why the decline
happened, I guess we have dating apps to
blame, for guys, not going out to bars and
clubs to pull, every weekend, and that the
20 age group are not interested in wearing
fetish gear? Its easier to pull on ya phone?
I still like to get dressed in gear and go to
a club with other hot guys, in gear to look
at, or pull, rather than on a dating app...
and ya don’t get your ass felt, on a dating
app!! Im in the 40’s age group now, and
don’t go every Saturday, but I still want
to know we have such venues to go
to. We don’t want to lose them, many
have gone in London. We are so lucky
in Birmingham to have Boltz & Eden,
we must continue to support them
in our gear, so that a new
generation, as I was in 1999,
will want to be interested and
wanna wear fetish gear!!
