ANNE MARIE MOLLOY - DUBLIN - IRELAND
WINNER OF THE HARTNETT QUEER LIT SHORT STORY AWARD
                                          2025
Anne Marie Molloy is a queer writer whose work is rooted in her
academic and creative pursuits, as well as being shaped by her
penchant for all things alternative. ‘As a long-term Goth, it was
meaningful to me that the subtext of this piece remained authentic to
all aspects of the subculture with a queer bent focus that’s reflective
of lesbian attractions.’ The piece was selected by editor PP Hartnett
within one hour of the work having been mailed by Molloy. ‘What
drew me to the piece was the retro vibe of same sex attraction in a
Dublin-based Goth club. The short story is intimate, without being
pornographic. The piece flicks a lot of buttons.’
Themes of the selected piece: Lesbian Culture > Insatiable Lust >
Desire vs Desolation > Punk / Goth Influence > Loss
