Tell us about a project you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t yet,
any limits you might have right now and what

your hopes for the future are. There is a series of work I am working on
called “Trees of Hampstead Heath '', referencing gay activities in the
bushes. It's undoubtedly a social place, integral to our history of
exclusion. Honouring the trees at Hampstead would be an indirect
comment to the going ons there whilst being conservative. The trees
have been our protector, confidant and friends. Un-judgtngly they’ve
served and bore witness to our community for years without recognition
and appreciation. I currently work relatively small, mainly on paper but I
would like to start making larger work again soon.

Outside of painting, how do you like to express yourself?

I only listen to two types of music, country and western. Primarily female
singers, favourites include Reba Mcentire and Linda Ronstadt. Without
sounding sadistic, the sadder the song the better. Listening to music
helps channel this deep melancholy inside. I believe we learn the most
from our darkest times.

Finally, is there anything you want to talk about, projects, other
work, people?

Working in the porn industry has given me more confidence than before,
more clarity in my work and has given me a platform and a voice. To that
I wish to thank George at HungYoungBrit for welcoming me, introducing
me to a wonderful community and giving me the opportunity to
investigate his extraordinary life and job.
