(1) Whip the rope (optional) about 6 inches from the end and unravel the strands
labeled A B C . (2) Form a loop (eye) and begin the splice, weaving the
strands through A B C as illustrated.
Note that each strand is tucked through the rope from right to left, against the
lay. Twist the strands clockwise as you pull them through the rope and maintain
the same tension on each strand. This will give the splice a smooth, untwisted
look. Splicing will go easier if you have a pointed tool to open the lay.
(4) Reverse the splice and tuck C under C .
