Dorothy’s daughter Dodie recalls that her mother’s dedication
and Girl Scout values became an integral part of their lives at home
as well. “We learned the importance of hard work, commitment,
friendships and team work. Now we share many happy memories
of singing Girl Scout songs in harmony while doing the dishes, family
camping, campfres and tent camping in the backyard, making fre
starters, learning to cook coffee can stew and baking in a refector
oven. She has been and remains a wonderful role model for us.
We are so proud of her accomplishments.”

Dorothy has a treasure chest of memories from her camping days.
They include being covered with ants after placing her sleeping
bag at night on an anthill while at a primitive roundup and having
strawberries, bananas and grapes festooned in her hair when a
girl carrying a bowl of fruit tripped at a service unit campout. She
bursts into laughter when sharing these and other memories.

One of her Senior Scouts from 45 years ago remembers Dorothy
being an outstanding mentor who encouraged her to earn the Gold
Award and apply for participation in national and international
Girl Scout “wider opportunities.” More recently Dorothy took the
time and trouble to look her up to tell her that her grandmother,
Helen Tolman Murray, was to be honored with a Wall of Honor
tribute. Margo Murray Humenczuk thanks Mrs. Frank for being
such an exceptional and caring leader for her – past, present and
future!

At the age of 90, Dorothy continues to be the leader of the
Alumnae Lunch Bunch, a group she organized and has led with
understanding, goodwill and grace. Dorothy values the many
wonderful life-long friendships she has made along the way truly
believing “make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the
other gold!”
