In 1784 the frigate ALARM was also sent out, under the command of Albert Spengler. The ship sailed from Texel probably on 2.8.1784, escorting the VOC ships EIK EN LINDE and EIKENWOUD (4451,4452), and arrived at Batavia on 19.2.1785. The ship took part in the action in the Malacca Straits under Van Braam and returned to Europe with the MONNIKENDAM. On 2.12.1785 the ALARM left Batavia, called in at the Cape from 2.2.1786 to 9.2.1786 and arrived in the Texel roadstead on 1.10.1786.
