Iconic Italian Wines
Antinori have had a knack of creating some of the finest wines in Italy. These
wines have pushed boundaries and redefined the rules! Demonstrating the
world class quality of their terroir.
Tignanello
Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon
Tignanello is produced exclusively from the Tignanello vineyard. This was the first
Sangiovese to be aged in barriques and one of the first Chianti reds not to use
white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It is made from a selection of Sangiovese,
Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in barriques for about
12 months and for a further 12 months in the bottles.
An intense ruby red in color with purple highlights, the wine shows an intense
nose of red fruit along with hints of sweet spices and underbrush. On the palate,
the flavors are fresh and vibrant with supple and balanced tannins. The finish and
aftertaste are long and sustained.
Crevaro Della Sala
Chardonnay and Grechetto
Cervaro della Sala, the “flagship” wine of this estate, has earned important
recognition and countless fond admirers. It is a blend of Chardonnay and Grechetto
grapes, fermented and aged for five months in barriques. It then matures in the
bottles for about 10 months in the Medieval cellars of the Castle. The Cervaro
name derives from the noble family which owned Castello della Sala during hte
15th century, the Monaldeschi del Cervaro. The Antinori family purchased the
estate in 1940. The first vintage of Cervaro della Sala to be produced was the 1985,
marketed in 1987.
The wine, a light straw yellow with brief greenish highlights, expresses rich,
complex, and intense aromas. The notes of citrus fruit, pears, and acacia flowers
are in perfect balance with the sweetand spicy notes of vanilla. The palate is supple
but vibrant, elegant and well structured, characterized by the classic mineral
sensations and by the light notes of hazelnut butter.
