Linda Butwinick & Paul Lindquist Shoreview, Minnesota

In the spring of 1998, their neighbor Kathy Boenisch shared several different hostas with her.
Hostas were new to them both. They were very pleased with the elegant green and white leaves
of H. ‘Night before Christmas’, the exciting white line in H. ‘Striptease’, the soft greens and yellow
edges of the beautiful H. ‘Sagae’, and the yellow centers of green edged H. ‘Guacamole’. She
began visiting garden stores to find more and more. Some of her happiest garden memories include
several hosta trips with Kathy, where they visited Shady Oaks, Halfren Gardens, Foxfire Gardens,
and Frieda’s, among others. They would leave on a Friday after work and return on a Sunday with
         25+ new hostas each!

In 2008, they built a small front courtyard and extended space for more hostas. In 2010 Paul
decided Linda had lost her mind when she removed the grass on the north side of the house for yet
another garden. In 2013 they added a gazebo off their deck. Their gazebo is the best place to sit
and enjoy their efforts. Of course, more hostas were displaced which required the rear garden to be
         enlarged.

April of 2016 brought a new fence, which involved digging up more than 100 hostas. Fortunately, it
also created a new plot on the south side of the yard. Linda and Paul have about 425 hostas. She
loves spending her days in the garden and later they spend their evenings in the gazebo making
         plans for the next day.
