Dear Dr. Hurley,

My name is David Timmer, and I am a medical student at the Morehouse School of Medicine. I
am writing to extend my gratitude for the Dr. Marja Hurley Endowed Research Award.

My goal of becoming a physician started when I was growing up in Haiti. I moved to the United
States after the earthquake in 2010, and I attended the University of Miami. When I received my
admission letter from Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), I was ecstatic as it was the
opportunity to make my dream of being a doctor become a reality.

While at MSM, I have spent many hours in the classroom, in the laboratory, and in clinical
settings, and I am so grateful for the wonderful education and experiences. I am now in my 4
th
year of medical school, and plan to go into Internal Medicine. I am considering a career in
general medicine or pursuing a fellowship after residency. No matter what path I choose, I intend
to put all that I have learned into practice and provide the best care for my future patients. It is
with enormous sincerity that I want to reiterate my gratitude for helping me reach my dreams.
