A long time a g o , a family o f g o ats

lived on East Mountain. Two o f the

brothers, Black G o a t and Brown

G o at, always fought about who

w as the best in the family. They

w ere very stubborn: they never

said “ so rry” or “ I ’m w rong.”

One day, they w ere on a small patch o f the greenest

g ra ss on East Mountain. It w as only enough fo r one

g o at. Brown G o a t said, “I ’m the oldest brother in the

family, so I should eat the g r a s s .”

Black G o a t said, “I ’m the smartest brother in the

family, so I should e a t the g r a s s .”

They pushed each other with their horns. They pushed

with the same fo rc e , so they didn’t move fo r w a r d or

b a c k w a rd . They pushed fo r a long time and then they

both go t tired and fell down. Black G o a t w as angry so

he moved to West Mountain.
