CHILDREN
For ages 2 to 5 - remember to start small! To be safe, dilute in a ratio of 1 part essential oil to 30 parts carrier oil. That’s about 3 to 5 drops in a 10ml bottle. More is not always better, and a little truly goes a long way! Bonus: the carrier oil will extend the life of the essential oil on the body, and it does not make the EO itself any less effective.
According to Gentle Babies by Debra Raybern, the consensus of opinion on oils that are safe to use on children include (but are not limited to) all of the following:
BERGAMOT CEDARWOOD CYPRESS FRANKINCENSE GERANIUM GINGER LAVENDER LEMON MARJORAM
ORANGE
ROMAN CHAMOMILE ROSE
ROSEMARY ROSEWOOD SANDALWOOD
TEA TREE
THYME
YLANG YLANG
DILUTION RATIOS
We suggest using these ratios as a general guideline for diluting essential oils for each age group. Using a moisturizing carrier oil will help to nourish skin while it minimizes the chance of irritation.
AGES 0-1

AGES 2-6
1/4 THE LABELED CONCENTRATION
AGES 7-11

Pro Tip: When starting an EO application, start on bottom of the feet to acclimate the body and reduce the chance of reaction.
