P. 3

To the Secretariat, I salute you all for your smart and hard-working spirit. Whenever there
has been a will, heart, brain and energy, it has been easy to meet objectives, no matter how
impossible the task may have seemed. The amazing team work has produced results which
were considered impossible from a distance. This wonderful team was given one week to
organize and hold the sport indaba and sport gala night but the results which came forth
were exceptional. As such, history was written not on paper but in the minds and souls of
                  members of the sports fraternity.

Strategically, Council is serving as the lens of the future through Malawi Youth Games and
Malawi Academy Sport as one way of resuscitating sports in Malawi, thereby building the
next generation of sports winners. This generation will take sport and recreation as career
and business, and a source of health, happiness and unity in Malawi and beyond.

Council is also on the drive of building its brand through the provision of services and prod-
ucts like the vehicles which include Sport for All, 42.195KM Race, Sport Indaba and Sport
Awards in a coherent and comprehensive manner by partnering and working hand-in-hand
with institutions such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) and Insti-
tute of Marketers in Malawi (IMM) so much so that some of these programs could be well
funded by the corporate world. This can relieve government of the pressure of funding
each and every program which, to some extent, makes sport service delivery impossible.

I, therefore, believe that during our tenure of o ce, Council would improve and make
tremendous progress in employee welfare through teamwork, and rejuvenate sport
through well designed programs, and source funds and benefits in kind from the private
sector through sports’ powerful brand. This way, we will create a winning nation in every-
thing as sport and creation bring everyone together. The dream lives on and if we cannot
achieve all of this today, not all is lost as the good thing is that we have taken the next step
and we are not where we were yesterday.
Enjoy reading between the lines of your sporty newsletter and I wish each one of you all
                  the best.
