Our sprinters were well placed, Marjorie Lee and Lorraine Hillier
both gaining second places. Jill Paterson came fourth in the oven 16
years 75 yards sprint. The under 15 years relay team (Elaine Phillips,
Lorraine Hillier, Brenda Cox and Leah Gibbs) won their heat and kept
up the good work by winning the final. The over 16 years relay came
           third.
In the file-gap pass, the under 15 years team gained second place,
and the over 15 years third place. Apart from these, only the under 15
years tunnel ball was placed, coming second.
We had a very satisfactory day, and are all looking forward to
next year’s competition. Our congratulations go to the other schools,
who put up such fine competition, and revealed such good sportsmanship.
We owe a great deal of thanks to Miss Nixon for the innumerable
hours she spent with us before school, during school and in the afternoon.
It is to her credit that the name of Wynnum appears so often on the
Grade II. Cup, and also on the Grade I. Cup.

               THE ANNUAL CROSS-COUNTRY RACE
“On Your Mark ! Set ! Go ! ” said the Principal who immediately
fled from the danger area. With a violent elbowing of ribs and a
gouging of eyes our cross-country competitors began the marathon 3.7
           mile run.
