Objective: Progress your imagery model, by adding in the Emotion imagery. Time to Spend: 15 mins.
“Emotion” phase is where you should try to experience all of the emotions you can associate with your image. Emotion is concerned with the fact that competitive sport is an emotional experience, and therefore for imagery to be realistic the emotions felt during performance should be mentally recreated during imagery practice. Visualising your emotions will intensify your imagery and hence get it to as real a state as possible.
Ø Begin your re-centering steps you learned last week and have been practising, Ø Now add your Physical which you learned yesterday,
Ø Now add your Environment which you learned yesterday.
Ø Now add your Task which you learned yesterday.
Ø Now add your Timing which you learned .
Ø Now add your Learning which you learned yesterday. Ø Now we’ll add in the Emotion ...
Right now, how are you feeling, whats your overiring emotion. You are making the tackle, hitting heard, how does it feel. You’ve hit the ball, slapped it from her hand. Hear the sound, its dropped, nobody has control of it. What are you feeling? Can you hear the crowd, they’re cheering, you’ve made the tackle., and now you;ve won the ball. Wheres your emotions at? Feel the emotion, concentrate on your breathing, Take two deep breaths for a count of 5 seconds in, 5 seconds out. On the third breath, take one final breath in, hold it, begin your run up and strike the ball, exhaling on contact.
Task: Practice this technique during a quiet moment at home first, progressing to practice while on the training pitch tomorrow. Combine this and all previous phases, this is coming together now. Take 20 mins per day to practise this. Find this time in the hour leading up to training,
Objective: Progress your imagery model, by adding in the perspective imagery. Time to Spend: 15 mins.
“Perspective” phase is referring to the way you are viewed in your imagery , this is whether you are LIVE i.e. yourself looking out through your own eyes , or you are on CCTV – so you are observing yourself from an angle.
