Based on the passage, we can identify three important generic structures in recount text
which are orientation, events, and reorientation. In orientation, the writer should present
the background information to understand the text such as in the text “dreaming, teenager,
imagine, spiderman”. The first paragraph as orientation involved where it happened and
when it happened. The next is an event that is a series of events, ordered in a chronological
sequence, for example in the text “I felt cold, I didn’t tell my family, I had a superpower, I
run, I jumped, etc. The last is re-orientation such as in the last paragraph of the passage. In
this section also provides the writer to reflect on the story that happened.
A. Comprehension
1. What did happen in the river?
2. Why didn’t he tell the family?
3. How did he realize that he got a superpower?
4. What kinds of power that he used after getting into an accident?
