P. 3
Changes brought about by the new technological advancements and improvements in the
industries all demand a new employee who can function properly in advanced work
environments. Colleges must change and adapt their training methods if they are to produce
graduates who can take employment in these advanced working environments. In this essay I
am going to outline the changes that are required in the present learning ecosystem for it to
function efficiently and produce better graduates. My imagined ecosystem learning
ecosystem will build on existing structures that exists already at the college and focus on
changes that will make the ecosystem more efficient. Changes to existing will make it easier
for people involved to quickly adjust to the new system and to reduce the financial
implication of a total overhaul of the system.
The term leaning ecosystems is now widely used in education sector, and a basic
understanding of its meaning is essential for this discussion. (Benedict. 2018) Describe a
learning ecosystem as a collection of people, processes and tools that deliver, integrate and
support the learning and development in an organization. While (Guatum .2019) states that a
learning ecosystem is a collection of individuals, process, and tools and teaching (content,
strategy, learning programs) that come together to support formal and informal learning
across an organization.
The learning ecosystem that I intend to implement at this campus will have students as its
focus. It will allow students to learn in class as well as after classes and in their homes. The
learning that the students engage in will be both formal, informal, collaborative and uses
digital content. The campus would be able to use existing printed textbooks at the campus
and from the community library as reference materials. In addition to this suitable digital
content should be made available online for students to uses at any time of the day. The
college should also provide fully equipped machine workshops that will also have working
models of industrial processes. These models will be used as visual aids during
demonstrations.
A robust learning management system is central to a vibrant learning ecosystem. In this
regard it is essential to note that the college has an information management system that is
used for student enrollments, attendance registers and capturing of test marks. This can easily
be expanded to include teaching and learning content. As a result, it will enable students and
teachers to access content at any time of the day. The other alternative if funds permit the
college can identify and install a learning system management, on that learning system
