客家人在晚稻收割后,通常会在田间种植萝卜,用于过年时制作粄和菜肴。进入农历新年期
间后,杀鸡蒸制时留下的鸡汤,常用于萝卜粄的蒸制,因此也被称为“鸡汤粄”。萝卜粄不
仅可以蒸着吃,也可以煎着吃,且常作为亲友之间的赠礼。
■ Dish Story
After harvesting late rice, Hakka people often plant radishes in the fields to use for making radish
cakes and other dishes for the Lunar New Year. The cakes are sometimes made with leftover chick-
en broth from steaming chickens during the Lunar New Year, earning them the nickname “Chicken
Broth Cakes”. They can be steamed or pan-fried and are often exchanged as gifts among relatives
and friends.
