梅县人称发粄为“BO”粄，BO是兴旺、发达的意思。发粄常用于乔迁、喜庆、敬神等场
合，象征好兆头，为场面增添喜庆氛围。发粄有红色、黄色、白色等，有些师傅也会加入酒
糟来发酵，增添独特风味

In Meixian, this cake is known as “BO Ban”, where “BO” symbolizes prosperity and flourishing. These
cakes are often used in occasions like housewarming, celebrations, religious ceremonies and other
joyous functions, representing auspiciousness and adding a festive atmosphere. They come in var-
ious colors, such as red, yellow and white, and some chefs even add wine dregs to create a unique
flavour.
