The AWAKENING
The AWAKENING
In a very quiet, warm spring evening, he found himself a nice seat
under the shady pipal tree [present day Bodhi tree]. He took to sit on
this spot, determined not to move until he found an answer to the
world’s suffering. For 49 days he contemplated deeply about life and
trying to find an end to suffering.
Throughout the night, he was tormented by the evil one, Mara, who
came with his three daughters to entice Siddhartha to give up his
search for the truth to end suffering. Mara’s temptation and fear was
successfully resisted by Siddhartha and there was nothing more to

block his path to awakening. Finally, on a full moon night, (斯⾥兰卡 Sri Lanka: 2006)
Siddhartha Gautama gained complete realisation.
As the sun began to rise in the East, he got his great breakthrough,
he found enlightenment on the full moon day of Vaisakha, the
month of May! That was Siddhartha Gautama’s discovery of the true
nature of the universe.
