                          Bodh  Gaya  was  originally  a  pastoral  sanctuary,

                          marked out with a stone balustrade 200 years


                          after his death. By 6th century AD, a full blown

                                                                                                                                                                                                                             庆祝卫塞节 Vesak Day
                          temple,  the  Mahabodhi  Temple,  marked  the                                                                                                                                                  (斯⾥兰卡 Sri Lanka: 2010)


                          stop  where  the  Bodhi  Tree  sits  which  is  still


                          seen  today.  400  years  later,  the  Mahabodhi

                          Temple was built to replace the old temple to


                          enshrine the iconic image of Gautama Buddha

                          wascremated                           but           his          bones                remained                                      (印度 India :1956)


                          unburned  and  become  relics.  They  were


                          distributed  widely  to  rulers,  tribes  and


                          kingdoms where they honoured its founder by


                          building monuments of pagodas or stupas over

                          his remains.
