Buddhist Art of the Silla Dynasty

Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple are ancient
Buddhist temples of Korea, which were established in
the mid-8th century AD during the golden era of the
Silla Dynasty. It is an artificial stone temple made of
granite. These two heritages represent the highly
developed architectural skills and creative
craftsmanship of the Silla people. 佛国寺
Bulguksa Temple
The Bulguksa Temple is the product of the Silla people‘s 释迦牟尼佛 Buddha (韩国 Korea:
realization of the ideal world and the Buddha’s country (韩国 Korea: 1997) 1997)
in imagination. They created and embodied the
Buddhist temple according to the description of the
world from Lotus Sutra (Fa Hua Jing), Sukhavativyuha
Sutra (Wu Liang Shou Jing) and Avatamsaka Sutra (Hua
Yan Jing).
