Delusion (Moha)*: Ignorance, wrong views and dullness.
This characteristic of unknowing, absence of right view and
is the chief evil root. Ignorance of 4 noble truths is the first
link of dependent origination. Wrong view and frivolous talk
are demeritorious deeds due to delusion.
Delusion’s antidote is wisdom. (Panna)
3: RIGHT SPEECH**
Recognizing the moral implications of
speech of falsehood or truthfulness.
Realising no lying, no rude and harsh speech, no telling one
person what another says about him to cause discord or
harming one’s relationship or of another.
4: RIGHT ACTION**
or Right Conduct by observing the five precepts as the
foundation of all morality: no killing or injuring, no
stealing or taking what is not given, no engaging in sexual
misconduct outside a marital partnership, no lying or
falsehood and not clouding the mind with material desires
using intoxicants.
5: RIGHT LIVELIHOOD**
Earning a living in ways that are consistent and in accord
with the basic buddhist precepts. This virtue avoids causing
suffering to sentient beings by cheating them, or harming
or killing them in any way. It also asserts that right livelihood
does not trade in weapons, living beings, meat, alcoholic
drink or poison, raising and trading cattle livestock for
slaughter.
