Storage of Drugs:

Drugs on storage may gradually deteriorate if they are stored under uncontrolled

conditions. Few drugs are not affected such as Nux vomica. Sometimes the storage

improves the quality of certain drugs such as frangula and cascara barks.

❖ Generally, the changes which occur upon storage are undesirable as the

▪ Ergot may acquire a disagreeable odor.
▪ Drugs containing fixed oils may be rancid.

▪ Volatile oil may be resinified.
▪ Digitalis and cannabis may lose their active constituents.
